His most notable action was the fast unto death he started on October 19, 1952, demanding a separate state of Andhra Pradesh for Telugu-speaking people. Sadly, he died during the fast on December 15, 1952. His sacrifice and demand for a separate state were pivotal in the formation of Andhra State.
