Question:

If the hypotenuse of an isosceles right-angled triangle is 10 cm, then the other two sides (in cm) are __________.

Options:

10√2 and 10√2

8√2 and 8√2

6√2 and 6√2

5√2 and 5√2

Correct Answer:

5√2 and 5√2

Explanation:

As 2 sides is equal in isosceles triangle

Therefore, AB = AC

Using pythagoras theorem,

= \( {BC }^{2 } \) = \( {AB }^{2 } \) + \( {AC }^{2 } \)

= \( {BC }^{2 } \) = 2\( {AB }^{2 } \)

= \( {BC }^{2 } \)/2 = \( {AB }^{2 } \)

= \( {AB }^{2 } \) = 50

= AB = 5\(\sqrt {2 }\)

Therefore, AB and AC are 5\(\sqrt {2 }\).
