Question:

If (9g + 2h)  :  (9g - 2h)  = 9  :  2. then what is the value of g : h?

Options:

22 : 63

18 : 35

45 : 19

35 : 24

Correct Answer:

22 : 63

Explanation:

 (9g + 2h)  :  (9g - 2h)  = 9  :  2

$\frac{9g+2h}{9g-2h}  =  \frac{9}{2}$

divide the numerator and denominator in LHS by h,

⇒ $\frac{9\frac{g}{h}+2}{9\frac{g}{h}-2}  =  \frac{9}{2}$

let $\frac{g}{h}$ =  R,

⇒ $\frac{9R+2}{9R-2}  =  \frac{9}{2}$

⇒ (9R+2) x 2 = (9R-2) x 9

⇒ 18R + 4 = 81R - 18

⇒      63R   = 22

⇒         R    = $\frac{22}{63}$

Thus, g  :  h  = 22  :  63
