Question:

The speed of a car is 25% more than that of a bus. A train covers 1110 km in 18\(\frac{1}{2}\) hours.  How much distance will the car cover in 2\(\frac{2}{5}\) hours if the speed of the bus is one-third the speed of the train?

Options:

60

75

65

90

Correct Answer:

60

Explanation:

+25% = +\(\frac{1}{4}\)

              Car   :   Bus

Speed      5     :     4

Speed of Train = \(\frac{1110}{37/2}\) = 60 km/h

Speed of Bus   = 60 × \(\frac{1}{3}\) = 20 km/h

           4 Units = 20 km/h

           5 Units = 25 km/h

Distance covered by Car = 25 × \(\frac{12}{5}\) = 60 km
