Question:

The perimeter of an equilateral triangle is equal to the circumference of a circle. If each side of this equilateral triangle is 88 cm long, then what will be the length of the diameter of the circle mentioned above? [Use π = $\frac{22}{7}$]

Options:

21 cm

63 cm

84 cm

42 cm

Correct Answer:

84 cm

Explanation:

We know that,

Circumference of circle = 2πr where, r = Radius

The perimeter of an equilateral triangle = 3s where s = side.

Side = 88 ( Given)

The perimeter of an equilateral triangle = 3a = 3 × 88

According to the question

Circumference of circle = 2πr

= 3 × 88 = 2 × \(\frac{22}{7}\)× r

= r = 42

= diameter = 2r = 2 × 42 = 84cm
