A and B have money in the ratio of 2 : 1. If A gives ₹2 to B, the money will be in the ratio of 1 : 1. What were the initial money they had?

₹8 & ₹4

      A             :             B  

      2             :             1     = 3 .....(i)

      1             :             1    = 2 ....(ii)

Now, (i) × 2 and (ii) × 3

      A             :             B  

      4             :             2     = 6 

      3             :             3     = 6

      -1R = Rs. 2

Therefore,

A = 4R = Rs. 8

B = 2R = Rs. 4
