Question:

The price of a scooter increases successively by 10%, 5% and 15%. What is the total percentage increase in price of scooter?

Options:

$32\frac{33}{40}\%$

$34\frac{21}{40}\%$

$30\frac{11}{40}\%$

$36\frac{31}{40}\%$

Correct Answer:

$32\frac{33}{40}\%$

Explanation:

10% = \(\frac{1}{10}\)

5% = \(\frac{1}{20}\)

15% = \(\frac{3}{20}\)

Let the price of the scooter = x

then ,

= x × \(\frac{11}{10}\) × \(\frac{21}{20}\) × \(\frac{23}{20}\) = \(\frac{5313}{4000}\)

Percentage increase = \(\frac{1313 × 100}{4000}\) = $32\frac{33}{40}\%$
