Which one of the following structures is not the male sex accessory duct in human?
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 3
The correct answer is Option (3) → Seminiferous tubules
Male sex accessory ducts are the tubes that carry sperms from the testis to the outside. They store the sperms and carry them along.
Option (1) Vas deferens — A male sex accessory duct. It carries the sperms from the epididymis up into the abdomen, where it joins the duct of the seminal vesicle.
Option (2) Vasa efferentia — A male sex accessory duct. These fine ducts carry the sperms out of the testis, from the rete testis to the epididymis.
Option (3) Seminiferous tubules — Not a male sex accessory duct. These highly coiled tubules lie inside the testicular lobules. Their spermatogonia and Sertoli cells form and nourish the sperms. They are the place where sperms are made, not a duct that carries them.
Option (4) Epididymis — A male sex accessory duct. It is a long coiled duct along the back of each testis. It stores the sperms and passes them on to the vas deferens.
