Question:

Which of the following is commutative for rational numbers?

Options:

Addition and subtraction

Addition and multiplication

Multiplication and division

Subtraction and division

Correct Answer:

Addition and multiplication

Explanation:

In commutative property, the numbers can be swapped. These are the numbers on which the mathematical operations have to be done. Any change in the placement of the numbers won't affect the end results. This is in the case of "ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION"

For example: 7 + 9 = 16 and 9 + 7 = 16 (addition), 8 x 9 = 72 and 9 x 8 = 72.

In case of division and subtraction, the answers will be vary: \(\frac{5}{2}\) = 2.5 whereas,  \(\frac{2}{5}\) = 0.4 and in case of subtraction 5 - 2 = 3 whereas, 2 -5 = -3
