Counting of Figures

Question:

How many squares are there in the following figure?

Options:

53

39

48

60

Correct Answer:

48

Explanation:

Row is not equal to Column

The logic followed here is;

Row's highest number is 05

Column's highest number is 03

So, 05x03= 15

      04x02= 08

      03x01= 03

      02x0= 0

Therefore, 15+08+03+0= 26 number of squares

(ii)

Row is equal to Column

So, 03x03= 09

      02x02= 04

      01x01= 01

      0x0= 0

Therefore, 09+04+01+0= 14 number of squares.

(iii)

Row is equal to Column

So, 02x02= 04

      01x01= 01

       0x0= 0

Therefore, 04+01+0= 05 number of squares.

And, remaining 01 square.

Hence, 26+14+05+01+02= 48 total number of squares.
