Question:

Rs. 1110 was to be divided among A, B and C in the ratio of \(\frac{1}{4} : \frac{1}{5} : \frac{1}{6}\) but by mistake it was divided in the ratio of 4 : 5 : 6. The amount in excess received by C was?

Options:

Rs. 22

Rs. 52

Rs. 72

Rs. 144

Correct Answer:

Rs. 144

Explanation:

Correct ratio = A : B : C = \(\frac{1}{4}\) : \(\frac{1}{5}\) : \(\frac{1}{6}\)

Correct ratio = 15 : 12  :  10 = 37 (total)

Wrong ratio  =  4  :  5   :  6  = 15 (total)

ATQ,

Excess amount to C =  \((\frac{6}{15}-\frac{10 }{37})\) × 1110

                             =  \(\frac{222-150}{15×37}\) × 1110

                             = 72  ×  2

                             = 144
