Question:

In a showroom the price of a washing machine is ₹ 65,000. The customer gets cash discount of ₹ 2,000, and gets a scratch card promising percentage discount of 10% to 15%. Determine the difference between the least and the maximum selling prices of the washing machine.

Options:

3,150

3,570

3,200

3,650

Correct Answer:

3,150

Explanation:

Marked Price = Rs.65,000

Cash discount = Rs.2,000

Other discount = 10% to 15%

Price of washing machine after cash discount =  ( 65,000 - 2000 ) = Rs63000

Now, percentage discount of 10% to 15% is given

Maximum selling price of washing machine = 63,000 × \(\frac{90}{100}\) = 56700

Least  selling price of washing machine = 63,000 × \(\frac{85}{100}\) = 53550

Difference = 56700 - 53550 = Rs.3150
