The logic followed here is;

Row's highest number= 03

Column's highest number is= 04

So, 03X04= 12

      02X03= 09

      01X02= 02

      0X01= 0

Therefore, 12+09+02= 20 squares.

So, 02x02= 04

      01x01= 01

        0x0= 0

Therefore, 04+01+0= 05 squares.

And, remaining 01 square

Therefore, there are total 20+05+01+01= 27 number of squares in the given figure.
