Question:

If tanA = \(\frac{3}{7.2}\),  find the value of 65 cosA + 26 tanA.

Options:

70

60

90

100

Correct Answer:

70

Explanation:

tanA = \(\frac{3}{7.2}\) = \(\frac{30}{72}\) = \(\frac{5}{12}\) = \(\frac{P}{B}\)   [Triplet 5, 12, 13]

H = 13×0.6 = 7.8

Now,

cosA = \(\frac{B}{H}\),

then

65 cosA + 26 tanA = 65 × \(\frac{7.2}{7.8}\) + 26 × \(\frac{3}{7.8}\) = 60 + 10 = 70
