Question:

A shopkeeper mixes two qualities of rice, which cost him ₹40 per kg and ₹47.50 per kg respectively, in such a way that he has 15 kg of the blended rice costing him a total of ₹645. What is the weight (in kg) of the rice that cost him ₹47.50 per kg?

Options:

5

6

10

9

Correct Answer:

6

Explanation:

Here, total cost price of the mixture = 645/15 = 43 Rs/kg

Now,

⇒ Ratio of quantity of Rs. 40/Kg rice and Rs.47.5/Kg = 4.5 : 3 = 3 : 2,

⇒ (3 + 2)units = 15 Kg    (given total qty)

⇒ 5 units = 15 Kg

⇒ 1 unit = 3 Kg

Weight of Rs. 47.5/Kg rice = 2R = 2 x 3 = 6 Kg.
