Who among the following was awarded the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award 2024 for Para-Athletics?
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 1
The correct answer is Option (1) → Praveen Kumar
Praveen Kumar, the para high jumper who won gold in the T64 event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 with an Asian record, received the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award for that year, sharing the honour with the chess grandmaster D. Gukesh, the shooter Manu Bhaker and the hockey goalkeeper Harmanpreet Singh.
Pranav Soorma and Ajeet Singh are para club-throw and javelin athletes, and Kapil Parmar a para judoka — all Arjuna awardees rather than Khel Ratna winners.
