Medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) is relatively safe during the first trimester, i.e. up to 12 weeks. Second-trimester abortions carry much more risk.

Option (1) Upto 24 weeks of pregnancy — Incorrect. 24 weeks is the legal upper limit for special cases with two doctors’ opinion, not the safe period.

Option (2) Upto 18 weeks of pregnancy — Incorrect. 18 weeks falls in the second trimester, when MTP is riskier.
