Question:

Study the following table and answer the questions.

Number of machines (in thousands) sold by dealers A, B, C, D and E during six months of 2022.

60% of total no. of machines sold by dealers C and D in January is what percent less than the total no. of machines sold by dealers C and E in March? (approx.)

Options:

49%

52%

65%

63%

Correct Answer:

49%

Explanation:

Sale of (C and D) in January = 640 + 520 = 1160

60% = 1160 × \(\frac{3}{5}\) = 696

Sale of (C and E) in March = 640 + 720 = 1360

Required % = \(\frac{1360 - 696}{1360}\) × 100 = \(\frac{664}{1360}\) = 48.82% or approx. 49%
