Question:

Average age of 8 men is increased by 3 years when two of them whose age are 30 and 34 years are replaced by 2 persons. What is the average age of the 2 persons ?

Options:

24 years

54 years

44 years

48 years

Correct Answer:

44 years

Explanation:

Per head increase = 3 years

Total increase = 8×3= 24 years

this means the two new men ,who have replaced the other two men , are carrying 24 years  more than the sum of the ages of the men with ages 30 and 34 years i.e. (30+34 = 64)

So the Sum of the ages of the two new men = 64 + 24 = 88

Therefore Average age  of two new men = \(\frac{88}{2}\)= 44
