Side of the square ABCD = 2r

Area of shaded region = area of square ABCD - 4 ( area of sector )

                                = (side)² - 4 × ( \(\frac{90}{360}\)πr²)

                                = (2r)² - 4  × \(\frac{1}{4}\) × π(5)²

                                = (100 - 25π) sq. cm
