Question:

Three numbers A, B and C are in the ratio 6 : 5 : 4. If we add 15 in each number then the ratio becomes 15 : 13 : 11. Find number A.

Options:

60

50

40

70

Correct Answer:

60

Explanation:

A    :    B    :    C

6    :    5     :    4      ⇒  ×4   (to make diff equal b/w two ratios)

15  :   13    :    11     ⇒  ×2

We get,

A     :     B     :     C

24    :    20    :     16

 ↓ +6      ↓ +6       ↓+6

30    :    26    :  22

ATQ,

6R = 15,

1R = \(\frac{15}{6}\)

Hence,

⇒ A = 24R = 24 × \(\frac{15}{6}\) = 60
