Question:

Amit sold an article for ₹ 7,000 and incurred a loss. Had he sold it for ₹ 8,750, his gain would have been three-fourth of the amount of loss that he incurred. At what price should he sell the article to get 10% profit?

Options:

₹7,800

₹8,400

₹8,800

₹8,000

Correct Answer:

₹8,800

Explanation:

First selling price = 7000

Second selling price = 8750

So the difference between the selling prices = 8750 - 7000 = 1750

According to the question ,

The difference in the selling prices = His gain would have been three-fourth of the amount of loss that he incurred

1750 = 3x + 4x

7x = 1750

then, 3x = 750

So the cost price = 8750 - 750 = 8000

Profit he wants = 10%

So the selling price will be = 110% of 8000 = 8800
