Question:

An car moves through 20 m in 3 minutes and the next 50 km at a speed of 100 km/h. What is the approximate average speed of the car?

Options:

22.38 m/s

20 m/s

25.26 m/s

26.28 m/s

Correct Answer:

25.26 m/s

Explanation:

Time taken to travel 50 km at 100 km/h = \(\frac{Distance}{Speed}\)

= \(\frac{50}{100}\) = 0.5 hours = 30 minutes

Total distance = 50 × 1000 + 20 = 50020

Total Time = 3 + 30 = 33 minutes = 33 × 60 = 1980 seconds

Average speed = \(\frac{50020}{1980}\)

= 25.26 m/sec
