A girl can row at 5 Km/hr in still water. If the velocity of current is 1 Km/hr and it takes her 1 hr to row to a place and come back, how far is the place.

Speed of boat in still water i.e. x - 5 km/hr

Speed of current/stream i.e. y - 1 km/hr

Upstream speed i.e. x - y = 4 km/hr

Downstream speed i.e. x + y = 6 km/hr

According to the question:

\(\frac{x }{4 }\) + \(\frac{x }{ 6}\) = 1

\(\frac{ 5x}{12 }\) = 1

5x = 12

x = 2.4 km
