Question:

What is the length (in cm) of the longest rod that can be fitted in a box of dimensions 28 cm × 4 cm × 10 cm ?

Options:

42

36

30

25

Correct Answer:

30

Explanation:

We know that,

Diagonal of cuboid = \(\sqrt {(l^2 + b^2  + h^2 ) }\)

Given,

Dimensions of box = 28 × 4 × 10

Diagonal of given cuboid box = \(\sqrt {(28^2 + 4^2  + 10^2 ) }\)= \(\sqrt {(784 + 16  + 100 ) }\)

= \(\sqrt {(900}\)) = 30cm
