Let two numbers are A and B

A - B = 4    ----(1)

Average = \(\frac{Sum\; of \;all\; observation }{ Total \; number\; of \;observation }\)

Sum of both A and B = 6 × 2 = 12

A + B  = 12     ---(2)

On adding both 1 and 2 ,

2A = 12 + 4 = 16

A = 8

8 + B  = 12
