Question:

The area of a right-angled triangle is 42 cm2 . If the length of one of its two sides containing the right angle is 10 cm, find the length of the other side that contain the right angle.

Options:

4.0 cm

8.0 cm

8.4 cm

4.8 cm

Correct Answer:

8.4 cm

Explanation:

We know that,

Area of right angled triangle = \(\frac{1}{2}\) × Base × Height

We have,

Area of right-angle triangle = 42 cm2

Length of one side = 10 cm

= 42 = \(\frac{1}{2}\) × 10 × Length of other side

= Length of the other side = \(\frac{42}{5}\) = 8.4 cm
