Question:

In a factory with 400 employees, the ratio of the number of male employees to that of female employees is 5 : 3. There are 87.5% regular employees in the factory. If 92% of male employees are regular employees, then what is the percentage of regular female employees?

Options:

80%

78%

87.5%

85%

Correct Answer:

80%

Explanation:

Number of regular employees = \(\frac{87.5}{100}\) × 400 = 350

ratio of,       male employees       :          female employees

                                 5               ∶                     3

The number of male employees = \(\frac{5}{8}\) × 400 = 250

The number of female employees = 400 - 250 = 150

The number of regular male employees = (\(\frac{92}{100}\)) × 250 = 230

The percentage of regular female employees = \(\frac{350-230}{150}\) × 100

= 80%
