A boat can cover a distance of 56 km downstream in 3.5 hours. The ratio of the boat in still water and the  speed of stream is 3 : 1. How much time (in hours) will the boat take to cover a distance of 41.6 km downstream ?

The ratio of the boat in still water and the speed of the stream = 3 : 1

Speed = Distance/Time

According to the question,

Speed of the boat downstream = 56/3.5 = 16 km/h

Now, To cover 41.6 downstream it will take = 41.6/16 = 2.6 hours
