Question:

Two bottles of the same capacity are 35% and 33\(\frac{1}{3}\)% full of orange juice, respectively.  They are filled up completely with water.  Then the contents of both the vessels are emptied into another vessel.  The percentage of orange juice in resultant mixture is?

Options:

65\(\frac{5}{6}\)%

34\(\frac{1}{6}\)%

60\(\frac{2}{3}\)%

39\(\frac{1}{3}\)%

Correct Answer:

34\(\frac{1}{6}\)%

Explanation:

Orange juice in 1st = 35%

Orange juice in 2nd = 33 \(\frac{1}{3}\)%

Ratio of quantity = 1 : 1

Now,

Orange juice in mixture =  \(\frac{35 + 33\frac{1}{3}}{2}\) =

                                     = \(\frac{68\frac{1}{3}}{2}\)

                                     = 34\(\frac{1}{6}\)%
