Arrange the given stages of spermatogenesis in correct sequence.
A. Spermatids
B. Primary spermatocytes
C. Spermatogonia
D. Secondary spermatocytes
Choose the correct answer from the options given below:
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 4
The correct answer is Option (4) → C, B, D, A
(C) Spermatogonia — come first. These are the immature male germ cells on the inside wall of the seminiferous tubules. They are diploid (46 chromosomes) and multiply by mitosis.
(B) Primary spermatocytes — come second. Some spermatogonia grow into primary spermatocytes, which undergo meiosis. A primary spermatocyte completes the first meiotic division (reduction division).
(D) Secondary spermatocytes — come third. The first meiotic division gives two haploid cells with 23 chromosomes each. These are the secondary spermatocytes, and they undergo the second meiotic division.
(A) Spermatids — come last. The second meiotic division gives four equal haploid spermatids. They change into sperms by spermiogenesis.
