Question:

If $cos(x - y) = \frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}$ and $sin (x + y) = \frac{1}{2}$, then the value of x( 0 < x < 90) is :

Options:

15°

60°

45°

30°

Correct Answer:

30°

Explanation:

cos ( x - y ) = \(\frac{√3}{2}\) & sin ( x + y ) = \(\frac{1}{2}\)

We know, cos 30º = \(\frac{√3}{2}\)  &   sin30º = \(\frac{1}{2}\)

So,  x - y = 30º    ----(1)

x + y = 30º    ----(2)

On adding 1 and 2 .

2x = 60º

x = 30º
