Question:
Which of the following crops in India is/are used as fodder crops in India?
Options:
Jowar
Maize
Both 1 and 2
None of the above
Correct Answer:
Both 1 and 2
Explanation:
Maharashtra alone produces more than half of the total jowar production of the country. Other leading producer states of jowar are Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is sown in both kharif and rabi seasons in southern states. But it is a kharif crop in northern India where it is mostly grown as a fodder crop.
Maize is a food as well as fodder crop grown under semi-arid climatic conditions and over inferior soils.
