Question:

An examination was held on five subjects where the maximum marks for each subject was 100. X scored 82, 97, 88 and 91 in four subjects. If his aggregate was 90%, how much did he score in the fifth subject?

Options:

92

94

89

79

Correct Answer:

92

Explanation:

Total Marks of one subject = 100

Total marks of 5 subjects = 100 × 5 = 500

90% of 500 = \(\frac{90}{100}\) × 500 = 450

Marks scored by X in 4 subjects = 82 + 97 + 88 + 91 = 358

Marks of 5th subject = 450 - 358 = 92
