Which personality, popularly referred to as "Jan Nayak", received the Bharat Ratna Award posthumously is?
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 1
The correct answer is Option (1) → Karpoori Thakur
Karpoori Thakur, the socialist leader and twice Chief Minister of Bihar, was known as “Jan Nayak” (people’s leader) for his work for the backward classes. The Bharat Ratna was announced for him in January 2024, on the eve of his birth centenary, long after his death in 1988.
All four persons in the options received the Bharat Ratna posthumously in 2024; the title “Jan Nayak” is what points to Karpoori Thakur.
