Question:

In a bag there are coins of ₹5, ₹10 and ₹20 denominations. The total number of coins in the bag is 240. If the number of coins of ₹5, ₹10 and ₹20 denominations are in the ratio of 2 : 3 : 5, then what is the total amount of money in the bag?

Options:

₹3,540

₹4,600

₹4,620

₹3,360

Correct Answer:

₹3,360

Explanation:

Rs. 5 : Rs. 10 : Rs. 20

 2     :   3       :    5

⇒ (2 + 3 + 5)units = 240

⇒ 10 units = 240

⇒ 1 unit = 24

⇒ 24 x 2 x Rs.5 : 24 x 3 x Rs.10 : 24 x 5 x Rs.20

⇒ 240 + 720 + 2400

Rs. 3360.
