Question:

Given below are two statements: one is labelled as Assertion A and the other is labelled as Reason R

Assertion A: The sun rises 2 hours later in Gujrat as compared to Arunachal Pradesh, but watches shows the same time.
Reason R: The longitudinal gap between Arunachal Pradesh and Gujrat is about 30 degrees but at the same time India has adopted Indian Standard time which is at 82.5° West.

In the light of the above statements, choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below:

Options:

Both A and R are correct and R is the correct explanation of A

Both A and R are correct but R is NOT the correct explanation of A

A is correct but R is not correct

A is not correct but R is correct

Correct Answer:

A is correct but R is not correct

Explanation:

The correct answer is Option (3) → A is correct but R is not correct

Since Arunachal Pradesh is in the east, the sun rises earlier here compared to Gujarat.

As we have only one time zone, the Indian Standard Time is taken from the time of Standard Meridian of India and hence, the watches show the same time in both the states.
