Select the box from the Answer Options, that can be formed by folding the sheet shown in the figure given below.

Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 2
The correct answer is Option (2) →
Note: The given answer is as per the official NTA Answer Key. However, none of the given options appears to be correct. Option (2) shows the right three faces, but 1 and 5 are in each other’s places, as explained below. NTA’s box looks right at first glance, but 1 and 5 have swapped seats.
Opposite faces never show together. On the net, two faces in a straight line with one face between them become opposite faces of the box. The coloured net below shows the three pairs:

2 and 4 (1 is between them)
1 and 6 (4 is between them)
3 and 5 (on the two sides of the column)
So Option (1) (6 with 1), Option (3) (2 with 4) and Option (4) (3 with 5) each show two opposite faces together and are ruled out. Only Option (2), with faces 4, 1 and 5, is left.
Where 1 and 5 really go:
Fold the sheet with the numbers outside and 1 in front: 2 goes on top, 4 underneath, 6 at the back, 3 on the left and 5 on the right.
Now tip the box forward so that 4 comes to the front: 1 moves up to the top and 5 stays on the right.
So with 4 in front, the box shows 1 on top and 5 on the right.
Option (2) shows 5 on top and 1 on the right, the other way round. It is the mirror image of the real box, as the picture shows.
