Kushana

Kanishka was a ruler of the Kushan dynasty. He was the greatest ruler of the Kushan Empire, which ruled over much of Central Asia and parts of South Asia from the 1st to the 3rd centuries CE.

Kanishka was born in 127 CE in the city of Purushapura (present-day Peshawar in Pakistan). He ascended the throne in 144 CE and ruled for over 20 years. During his reign, the Kushan Empire reached its zenith. Kanishka expanded the empire's territory, promoted trade and commerce, and patronized the arts and sciences.

Kanishka is also known for convening the Fourth Buddhist Council in Kashmir in 147 CE. This council was attended by Buddhist scholars from all over the world, and it helped to standardize the Buddhist canon.
