Question:

If 60 chairs are bought for Rs.24,560, then how many chairs must be sold for Rs.24,560 to earn a profit of 20 percent?

Options:

50

40

30

60

Correct Answer:

50

Explanation:

Cost of 60 chairs = Rs. 24560

Cost of 1 chair = \(\frac{24560}{60}\) = Rs. 409

Selling price of 1 chair = 409 × \(\frac{6}{5}\) = Rs. 491.2

∴ Number of chairs sold for 24,560 = \(\frac{24560}{491.2}\) = 50
