Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 1
The correct answer is Option (1) → (A), (B), (C), (D)
(A) Fardoonji published Bombay Samachar — 1822.
(B) The Pioneer was published in Allahabad — 1865.
(C) Introduction of Vividh bharati by All India Radio — 1957.
(D) Introduction of DTH — no year is given for the introduction of DTH. It appears only as one of the services through which Indian homes receive television today, beside cable TV and IPTV, so it is placed last as the newest of the four.
Note: NCERT (2025-26) gives no year for statement D, the introduction of DTH; it names DTH only among the television services of March 2016. It dates statement A (1822), statement B (1865) and statement C (1957). The answer has been marked as per the official NTA answer key, which places D last.
NCERT (2025-26): “Radio … In 1957, AIR acquired the hugely popular channel Vividh Bharati, which soon began to carry sponsored programmes and advertisements and grew to become a money-spinning channel for AIR. When India gained independence in 1947, All India Radio had an infrastructure of six radio stations, located in metropolitan cities. The country had 280,000 radio receiver sets for a population of 350 million people. After independence, the government gave priority to the expansion of the radio broadcasting infrastructure, especially in state capitals and in border areas.…” “Television … Today, the situation of the television industry is like this — the Annual Report released by TRAI for the year 2015–16 clearly stated that India has the world’s second largest TV market after China. As per industry estimates, as on March 2016, of the existing 2,841 million households, around 1,811 million have television sets, which provide services of cable TV, DTH and IPTV, in additon to a terrestrial TV network of Doordarshan.”
