Question:

Find the remainder when we divide $ 3x^4 -2x^2 + 4x - 1 $ by $ 2x -1 $.

Options:

2

$\frac{11}{16}$

$\frac{15}{16}$

Correct Answer:

$\frac{11}{16}$

Explanation:

When,

3x4 - 2x+ 4x - 1 is divisible by 2x – 1

For finding the required remainder put

2x – 1 = 0

= x = 1/2

Now, the remainder is,

= 3(1/2)4 - 2(1/2)2 + 4(1/2) - 1

= 3/16 - 1/2 + 2 -1

= 3/16 + 1/2 = 11/16
