Question:

Age of A is 6 years more than three times the age of B. After three years, A's age will be 8 years more than twice the age of B. The average of present ages of A and B (in years) is:

Options:

12

11

14

13

Correct Answer:

13

Explanation:

ATQ,

Let present age of B = x

Present age of A = 6 + 3x .....(1)

After three years A's age = 8 + 2(x + 3) ......(2)

From (1) & (2),

6 + 3x + 3 = 8 + 2(x + 3)

x = 5

So, present age of A = 21

present age of B = 5

Average age of A and B , \(\frac{21 + 5}{2}\) = 13 years
