| Read the passage and answer the following questions: Plants rely on sunlight for photosynthesis, the process by which they produce food. As a result, light plays a vital role for autotrophs and other living organisms. In forest environments, where tall trees cast shadows, small plants have adapted to optimize photosynthesis even under low light conditions. Additionally, many plants require sunlight to fulfill their photoperiodic requirement for flowering.
