Consider a coil C₁ connected to galvanometer as shown. Another current carrying coil C₂ is placed next to the first coil. 

In context to this, answer the following question.

If the coil C2 is held fixed, what happens to the galvanometer needle?

Comes back to zero

As there is no motion between the coils, no current flows through it and so the galvanometer reading shows no deflection at all.
