Question:

If $A=\begin{bmatrix}2-x & 1\\3 & y+2\end{bmatrix} $ and  $B=\begin{bmatrix} y & 1 \\3 & 2x+1\end{bmatrix}$ are such that A=B, then values of x and y are respectively :

Options:

1, 3

3, 1

2, 1

1, 1

Correct Answer:

1, 1

Explanation:

The correct answer is Option (4) → 1, 1

$A=B$ comparing respective elements

$2-x=y⇒x+y=2$   ...(1)

$y+2=2x+1⇒2x-y=1$   ...(2)

Adding (1) and (2)

$3x=3⇒x=1$

from (1)  $1+y=2$

$y=1$

$(x,y)=(1,1)$
