The length and breadth of a rectangle are in the ratio 5 : 3. If the length is 8 m more than the breadth, what is the area of the rectangle? |
240 m2 380 m2 360 m2 400 m2 |
240 m2 |
The ratio of length and breadth = 5 : 3. We know that, Area of rectangle = length × breadth = length of rectangle = 5a, breadth of rectangle = 3a = 5a – 3a = 8 = 2a = 8 x = 4 length of rectangle = 5a = 5 × 4 = 20 m breadth of rectangle = 3a = 3 × 4 = 12 m Then, area of rectangle = length × breadth = 20 × 12 = 240 m2 |
