The price of rice is increased by 40% due to this a person can buy 6 kg less rice for Rs. 300. Find the new consumption of rice.

Price ∝ \(\frac{1}{Qty.}\)           {When expenditure is constant}

Therefore,

             Old     :     New

Price :     5      :        3

Qty.  :     3      :        5       ⇒ 2R (difference)

ATQ,

2R = 12 kg

So, New Consumption = 5R = 5× 6 = 30 kg.
