Question:

Two trains start at same time from two stations towards each other at the speed of 30 km/hr and 27 km/hr . At the time of meeting the faster train covers 30 km more distance than other . Find the distance between two stations .

Options:

570 km

440 km

520 km

540 km

Correct Answer:

570 km

Explanation:

Let time of travelling be t hours

Distance travelled by train with speed 30 km/hr = 30 × t = 30t

Distance travelled by train with speed 27 km/hr = 27 × t = 27t

According to question ,

Difference in distance travelled by two trains = 30 km

30t - 27t = 30

3t = 30     ⇒     t = 10

Distance between two stations is = 30t + 27t = 57 × 10 = 570 km
