Population

% of Men % of Women % of Children
P 46800 45% 35% 20%
Q 45400 35% 50% 15%
R 42000 48% 42% 10%
S 39250 42% 42% 16%
T 46200 40% 45% 15%

In city R, among the children, the ratio of boys to girls was 2 : 3 and in city P, among the children, the ratio of boys to girls was 5 : 4. What was the total number of girls (among the children) in city P and city R together?

Options:

6680

4160

6860

4610

Correct Answer:

6680

Explanation:

Number of children in city R = \(\frac{10 }{100}\) × 42000

= 4200

Ratio of boys to girls = 2 : 3

ATQ ,

5R = 4200

1R = \(\frac{4200 }{5}\) = 840

Number of girls in R = 3R = 3 × 840 = 2520

Number of children in city P = \(\frac{20 }{100}\) × 46800

= 9360

Ratio of boys to girls = 5 : 4

9R = 9360

1R = \(\frac{9360 }{9}\) = 1040

Number of girls in P = 4R = 4 × 1040 = 4160

Total number of girls in city P & R = 2520 + 4160 = 6680
